Access is Prohibited to SMCCCD Campuses and District Office Effective Tuesday March 17 at 5pm

On legal order of San Mateo County Health, access to the Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College campuses and the District Office is prohibited effective 5pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The prohibition is in effect for three weeks, per County Health orders. Access will not be allowed to faculty, staff, or students except those providing essential services (certain Facilities, Public Safety, and ITS staff).

Faculty and staff who were preparing to work remotely should continue to do so, and online and distance learning courses will continue as planned. Those employees, including student workers, who are not able to work remotely will continue to be paid as scheduled through March 31. Additional information relating to pay and leaves will be forthcoming in a future communication.

Staff and faculty may still access campuses on Tuesday, March 17 to check out loaner laptops for working from home. Appointments are still available (submit this online form) until 4:45 pm on Tuesday. The County’s legal order allows the District to facilitate distance learning, but any travel to campus to pick up technology needed for distance learning and working from home should be limited and only if absolutely necessary.

The order requires you to stay home except to do essential activities such as grocery shopping, picking up medication, or providing care for a friend or family member. The order is explained here:
